Cross Country Meet Procedures
There are a total of six meets during the season. Dates, times and places can be found at the Meet Schedule. Directions will be provided to each meet.
Cross Country meets begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. with a walk through of the course. Parents are not only welcome, but encouraged to participate in the walk through. Athletes should plan on arriving at least 10 to 15 minutes early in order to register with their coach and receive their race tag. The walk through is important so that each athlete will be familiar with the course. Even if you are an experienced athlete, who has previously run this course, courses are constantly being changed, and the current condition and direction is important to running the course to the best of your ability. Races then promptly begin at 9:00 a.m. with the Gremlin Girls first, followed by Gremlin Boys, Bantams, Midgets, etc until all athletes complete the course. The day moves quickly, with the last runners usually finished before noon. If the number of runners in a given race is small, boys and girls may run together, although each will receive awards within their own gender and age group.
The Pacers are responsible for hosting one meet per year. Volunteers are needed for course set up, clean up and course monitors during the race. Please volunteer, its fun, easy and rewarding.
