Post Season
At season's end, those athletes who have participated in at least half of the league's meets, are eligible to compete in either the League Finals or the Open Finals. Athletes may compete in only one of the two, depending on their eligibility. Please see the Schedule for dates, times and places of the various meets.
League Finals
If the athlete meets or surpasses the Qualifying Standards as outlined by the conference, they are eligible to compete in the League Finals. These standards are available from the coach, this website, or the information booklet given you at the beginning of the season. These standards are set very high and many, if not most, of the athletes will not meet these goals. In addition, Gremlins are not eligible to compete at this meet. If an athlete meets or exceeds a qualifying standard in an event, he/she competes at the League Finals only in the event for which they qualify, and are ineligible to compete in any other event or at the Open Finals.
A competitor may also be eligible to run in a relay, or as a near qualifier in another event, (i.e. a member of a relay team who is not qualified in any other event). In cases such as this, it may be up to the competitor to decide whether they will compete in the League Finals or the Open Finals, but in no case may they compete in both.
Open Finals
Athletes who have not qualified in any event, may participate in the Open Finals. In addition, all Gremlins compete at this meet.
Individual Event Championships
This is the final meet of the year at conference level. The top four finishers from the Western League and the Eastern League ( Pacers) compete. The best fifth place finisher between the two leagues also participates in this meet.
Following the IEC's, the top competitors in each event continue to compete in USA Track and Field or AAU meets in national competition. See the head coach or the club president for more information concerning these competitions.
